I would say the group I am most unfamiliar with is the LGBTQ community. So aside from interviews, I also wanted to look up examples of where characters of that community flourished. I remembered there being a few controversies over certain cartoons a few years back. One of them was The Legend of Korra. It was one of the first cartoons to feature a bisexual main character. Another series was Steven Universe which faced criticism for a similar reason. Despite the controversies, I knew that the characters featured in the shows are fan favorites. After looking into it a bit I realized that those characters were criticized due more to homophobia rather than the quality of the character. So, I wanted to also look at the characters that were controversial for more legit reasons. Characters that were criticized for being one dimensional or stereotypical. This led to a very long list. There might just be a problem here (sarcasm).
